I forgot to mention this on the first one, but I'm not including Legendaries. (Otherwise, Lugia would've been on my Johto one and at least one 3rd gen Legendary would've made it onto the Hoenn one.)
Torterra – Torterra proudly continues Grovyle’s legacy of outshining the other starters. Granted, Grovyle at least had some competition. The whole Mudkip line is great and Blaziken is obviously well-received by the fans. But Monferno and Empoleon don’t pose much threat to Torterra’s standing. (Arceus, I hate monkeys…) That being said, he probably could’ve stomped out any competition thrown his way. His expression is badass, he’s got metal spikes on his jaw and back, plus an armored rim to his shell. He’s even got access to STAB Earthquake, along with some great Grass-type attacks. Considering design and moves, Torterra is a monster that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Staraptor – One of the coolest starter birds. Its cry in battle sounds awesome and it learns freaking CLOSE COMBAT. Heck yes. I love this bird.
Bidoof – Bidoof is probably my soulmate. And my spirit animal. I fall more and more in love with him every day. He’s so silly and derpy with those wittle buck teeth and that dumb expression X) The more the world hates him, the more I love him. Bidoof + SIMH 4ever <3
Luxray – There’s no denying the awesomeness of Luxray’s design. I love that black fur and that edgy mane thing. The colors on this guy are so cool.
Buizel – He’s SOOOOOOO cute!! I love Buizel. I love his face and the little fins on his arms. He’s adorable.
Skuntank – I know a lot of people don’t like him, but I really do. I don’t know why exactly, but as soon as I saw him, I decided I wanted one. He’s a really cool shade of purple and there’s something about the fact that you can’t fully see his face that’s mysterious and intriguing. Even though it’s really ugly when you do see it, but still His type is also awesome.
Spiritomb – I love Spiritomb’s design so much. The method for obtaining him is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen, but his colors and face are perfection.
Gabite – I actually prefer Gabite over Garchomp. Something about Garchomp is a little off-putting to me, but Gabite looks really cool. He’s got that serious, “don’t-mess-with-me” look about him. And he’s got claws for hands. That’s a plus.
Toxicroak – SUCH a cool Pokémon. His typing is incredibly unique, his design is so well-done, and we finally have a frog that isn’t stuck in the Water typing. Everything about him is great. I love Toxicroak. (Lookit those red jabber-claws on his hands. So cool.)
Togekiss – He’s so adorable!!!! He’s literally a flying ball of happinesss!!!
Leafeon – As annoying as it is that Eevee and its evolutions are raved about so much in the fandom, I do love them, especially Leafeon. He’s just so darn cute, especially his leafy ears X)
Drifloon – What’s better than a cute little living balloon? A cute little living balloon that drags children to hell
Chimchar: I hate monkeys. I just do. I especially hate Pokémon BASED on monkeys. I admit that Infernape is pretty cool (mostly because of Ash’s), even though I don’t like his design that much. But this guy….no. He’s ugly. His body has a weird shape to it. He’s creepy. Just no.
Prinplup: Possibly one of the dumbest Pokémon in existence. Empoleon’s design is straight-up odd, but I don’t even know what to do with this one. It looks like it’s wearing a suit, but why is it supposed to be a formal penguin? There was time for that in Mary Poppins. No, go home, Prinplup. You don’t belong in this series.
Wormadam – Do I even need to explain this one….? Ugly. Creepy eyes. Stupid design. Doesn’t even look like a bug. Etc.
Ambipom – WHY ARE THERE SO MANY MONKEYS? DX I could tolerate Aipom, but this….now its hand-tails are even larger AND IT HAS TWO OF THEM. OH GOSH, PLEASE DON’T LET IT TAKE ME, NOOOOO!!
Mime Jr. – Another Pokémon that didn’t need to exist. As if Mr. Mime weren’t stupid and forgotten enough already…. -_-
Happiny – It was nice to get one in the game so you could evolve it into Chansey instead of trying to catch one of those freaking things. But it looks SO stupid. I hate its weird ponytail thing. And it didn’t really need to exist.
Hippopotas – Hippowdon is pretty cool but I don’t even know what to do with this thing. You wanna know the only reason I hate it? Look under its eyes….what IS that?! It has, like, weird antenna things sticking out of its eye stalks! It’s a hippo! Why does it need those?! They look so strange and off-putting that they make me hate the whole design. Actually, the whole thing is pretty ugly too
Drapion – This is one that a lot of people love that I could never bring myself to like. I find it really freaky, but not in a cool way. It also just looks kinda stupid with its body shape. It’s just a bunch of connected body segments that form a haphazard cross shape. There’s almost no structure to the guy. He looks so weird when he moves his neck/spine/upper back part. I hate his eyes too.
PROBOPASS – Even more so than any of the other least favorites on previous lists and lists to come….Probopass is my least favorite Pokémon of all time. I cannot express how awful he is. For one, Nosepass never should’ve evolved. And even if he was going to get an evolution, it should’ve made him cooler (because goodness knows he needs it) but instead he just became an even larger head with an even larger nose. And that’s not the worst part…..HE HAS A MUSTACHE.
Mustaches are great. Usually. But Probopass doesn’t have a classy mustache or one of the mustaches that blend into the design like Kadabra’s. It’s like GameFreak designed him, then grabbed a ball of hair and shoved it onto his nose. It’s disgusting and it makes absolutely no sense that he has it. He’s a Rock-type. He’s made of rock. How does he have organic hair sprouting from his giant stone nose? *shudder*
Aside from how poor his design is and how gross his mustache is, he’s just really stupid. Again, Nosepass didn’t need to evolve. It should’ve just been one of the forgotten Pokémon that no one ever revisits. The design could’ve gone in so many other, better directions. His typing is nothing new and Aggron did it so much better. His moves aren’t even that great. He’s an overall underwhelming Pokémon in every regard.
Electivire – Another one that gets a lot of love from fans that I personally don’t like. It’s the mustache again. (Are you seeing a recurring theme here? STOP GIVING POKÉMON HUMAN FEATURES, GAMEFREAK!) Yup, the weird facial hair thing gives his design a really odd look and I don’t think he adds much to the evo line. Elekid looked cool and Electabuzz wasn’t too bad either. I know Electivire has some good options for battle, but he’s not spectacular.
Tangrowth – I guess it’s kinda funny. It probably beats Tangela in my book. But again….SO unnecessary….no one cared about Tangela in the first place. I understand that some of these evolutions boosted interest in the old Pokémon again, but the designs just aren’t good enough to make me like them. The only thing I respect about Tangrowth is its beastly ability as a wall. But it still looks dumb.
Porygon-Z – Alright, I’ve just decided 90% of Sinnoh Pokémon are deemed “unnecessary.” Did we REALLY need a 3rd Porygon evolution? The design was so basic to begin with that there was nowhere to go from Porygon2. But they tried anyway. And this was the result. Another boring basic-shapes Pokémon with the same color scheme as it had in gen 1. It didn’t even need the stat boost either. Porygon2 holds its own just fine. I guess I just wish the gen 4 designs were thought out more. A lot of them feel really rushed and uninspired. I mean, look at all the evolutions of old Pokémon I put on here. They hardly change anything about their previous form. It’s like taking the old designs and just adding or tweaking a few parts.
*still mad about Porygon-Z*
Lol, Porygon-Z isn't terrible. I actually like it more now than when I made this thing. It's just not terribly interesting to me though, and it seemed really unnecessary.
