My Lil Sis reacts to: Nuzlocke VN Characters!

After seeing ’s wonderful reaction game to the Nuzlocke VN characters that she did with her nerdface friend, I decided to do the same with my little 9-year-old sister. She only sort of vaguely knows what a Nuzlocke is. All she knows is that people write Pokémon comics and do goofy stuff online, which is pretty much accurate and sums up the whole community

Let the games begin!

Sora: Ok, first, look over all the characters and tell me which one looks like they’d be the hero or main character of the story.

Lil Sis:

*sees Will* It’s not the guy with the X’s in his hair. That’s like saying “Nope.”

*points to Aoi* Whatever his name is.

*sees Eva* *giggle* She’s picking her nose.

Maybe Sara?

*sees Maki* She has three X’s in her hair.

*sees Phan* He looks like he’s bad at school. He needs to shave and he’s tired.

*sees Zephyr* I know she’s a hero. I think.

Why is someone named Saddest?

 

Sora: Now, pick who looks like the villain, or the scariest character.

Lil Sis: Sycamore looks creepy.

 

Sora: Who would be the class clown?

Lil Sis: Probably Will.

Sora: Do you have a reason why?

Lil Sis: …He has X’s in his hair.

(She really couldn’t get over those X’s )

 

After dying of laughter from her answers, I asked her to go through each character and tell me what type of person she thought they were. She also wanted to tell me what special powers or talents they would have, and those got really frikkin’ weird XD (You have been warned.)

 

Lil Sis:

“Aoi looks kinda like…he’s serious and he’s looking at someone like ‘Are you serious?’”
Special Power: “Whenever he sleeps, he has a super snore that knocks people out”

“Cody is just a normal person. He and Aoi are brothers.”
Special Power: “If he’s alone for too long, he starts throwing a tantrum and break dances with a mix of karate.”

Adel: “She would kinda be like Korra. She thinks all the time and knows what’s right.”
Special Power: She can waterbend.

Toren: “I have something weird for him…he’s a big-eyed freak.”
Sora: Oh my gosh, why?! *is actually offended for Toren*
Lil Sis: Ok, maybe it’s the art style. His eyes ARE big.
Sora: Well, at least she recognizes differences in art styles…

Special Power: “If people keep annoying him and asking him questions, if that happens 10 times, flowers shoot out of his eyes and he plays piano madly”
Sora: What the heck is wrong with you?! XD

Sky: “A boy version of your character! He looks like an adult.”
Sora: He is. He’s the swim coach.
Lil Sis: He’s a normal person.

Special Power: “This one’s more of a talent. He’s not only good at swimming. He’s a really good gymnast.”
Sora: Eh, that’s probably true too.

Kix: “She’s happy all the time and her favorite cereal is Kix.”
Special Power: “This one’s weird.”
Sora: As opposed to the others?
Lil Sis: If a stranger talks to her, she screams and Kix cereal shoots out of her

Clare: “The smart one. She likes school and she’s always on her computer researching. Not in a bad way.”
Special Power: “If she keeps failing at school, she searches websites that don’t exist and they pop up and say ‘Sorry. Webpage unavailable.’ and she destroys her computer.”

Lilian: “Normal.”
Sora: You can’t say normal for all of them!
Lil Sis: *ignores me*
Special Power: “Hers is a talent. Secretly, she’s always wanted to be the librarian because her talent is reading graphic novels.”

Eva: “She doesn’t care about anything. I’m scared to find out what her personality actually is.”
Sora: She’s the teacher.
Lil Sis: Oh…..why is she wearing an eyepatch?
Sora: No one knows XD
Special Power: “Hers is kind of a power and a talent. It’s a talower. When she’s mad, she buys 15 motorcycles, rides each one 20 times around the block, then goes into a comic store, grabs her favorite comic, and for each minute she reads it, she does a cartwheel.
Sora: That’s not a power OR a talent!
Lil Sis: I don’t care. Ok, here’s something that could be true. People think it’s an eyepatch, but actually, she broke her favorite pair of sunglasses and just kept one of the shades. She thinks it looks cool, but I don’t think so.

Will: “2 X man. His girlfriend is the 3 X girl. He’s the troublemaker.”
Sora: Yup. You’re spot-on! (about the troublemaking part anyway)
Lil Sis: Yessss! *fist pump* Probably my first one…
Special Power: “When he’s mad, his X’s blink and then he grabs two mini shovels and digs into his hair and pulls out chocolate coins.”
Sora: What?!
Lil Sis: *laugh*
Sora: If I post these, people will think I’m insane!
Lil Sis: Just say I said it.
Sora: I’m going to, but still…
Lil Sis: *laughs at my pain*

Ray: “Furious. Not angry, but like…”
Sora: Fierce?
Lil Sis: Yeah.
Lil Sis: Roy’s our boy! Ray says “Hey!”
Special Power: “I had this one planned from the start.”
Sora: Oh no…
Lil Sis: He’s kinda like a firebender-
Sora: Haha, Ray is a girl XD
Lil Sis: Oh, she’s kinda like a firebender but she bends light, or things that light up.
Sora: Like Will’s X’s?
Lil Sis: Yeah! She could make them into O’s.

Sara: “Happy all the time. She reminds me of Misty.”
Special Power: She’s good at training Pokémon.
Sora: Yeah, she is.
Lil Sis: *evil laugh*

Khail: “Is he a teacher?”
Sora: Pfft, no XD
Lil Sis: He’s a cool person
Sora: Oh no. (You must learn to recognize womanizers, my little baby D’X)
Lil Sis: Or he’s a troublemaker.
Sora: Ok, there ya go XD
Lil Sis: It’s hard to tell because he’s smiling, but it’s kinda an evil smile…

(I love you, Khail, but it’s my duty to be an overprotective big sister :’D)

Special Power: “He loves to eat kale.”
Sora: How is loving to eat something a power?!
Lil Sis: It’s a talent. He won a kale-eating contest.

Maki: “She is…well…” *squints at screen* “Her pupils are tiny.”
“She’s happy?”
Special Power: “Hers is similar to Will’s. Whenever she wants, she’ll take away her X’s and there’s a jewel mine in there, and she stores a Whismur in her hair.”
Sora: Why Whismur?
Lil Sis: He’s small and can fit in her hair. She has a Caterpie in there too.

Dewey: “Is that a boy or a girl?”
Sora: *laugh* She’s a girl. She has a manbun.
Lil Sis: Ok. To me, Dewey is a boy’s name but it looked like a girl so I was confused…Is she a teacher?
Special Power: “She has a Jigglypuff named Dewey.”
Sora: These are just random facts now.
Lil Sis: Actually, that’s what it should be. Facts.

Phan: “Always tired and lazy.”
Sora: Actually, he’s kinda the class clown.
Lil Sis: I can see that.
Special Power Fun Fact: When he stays up until midnight, he grows a mustache and beard.
(Sounds like a special power again…)

Sadist: “She is a good person.”
Sora: What makes you say that?
Lil Sis: She has a hat.
Special Power Fun Fact: Aside from reading, she also loves to go outside and catch new Pokémon, and sometimes, secretly, she brings a Furret to school and hides it under her hat.

Skye: *intense whisper* “IT’S YOUR CHARACTER…….Actually, I don’t know her personality.”
Sora: Guess.
Lil Sis: A nice person. Who has a Russell.
Special Power Fun Fact: Because of her name, she rides a Salamence in the sky.

Zephyr: “I think I saw a picture of him on your computer earlier.”
Sora: You said “he” this time. Before, you said “she.”
Lil Sis: ….What is it?
Sora: *laugh* No one knows. Zephyr is the mystery of the school XD
Special Power Fun Fact: “Has lots of Grass Pokémon.”
Sora: Did you know Zephyr’s favorite type is Flying?
Lil Sis: …Oops.

Sycamore: “It looks like Professor Skymore.” (--> how she pronounces Sycamore in the games)
Sora: It is.
Lil Sis: Oh. Why did I say he’s evil…? …I’ll say he’s evil anyway.
Special Power Fun Fact: He doesn’t like his students.
Sora: That’d be horrible!

Petja: “He cares about school very much…Why isn’t he in a uniform? He has, like, a bowtie.”
Special Power Fun Fact: “When he’s with people he knows well, he acts like a gentleman.”

Yume: “Yoom. She’s fierce.” (I knew she was gonna pronounce it this way XD)
Special Power Fun Fact: “Sometimes, she uses a Butterfree as a bow to sneak Pokémon into school.

Felicia: “She would do anything to reach a goal.”
Sora: Ooh. Did you know her nickname is Fay-fay?
Lil Sis: It could be Fifi.
Special Power Fun Fact: She can icebend and she’s always cold.
Sora: Wow, that’s…surprisingly accurate!

Raven: “She’s related to Teen Titans. Same personality.”
Sora: I saw this one coming before we even started XD
Special Power Fun Fact: *leans in and whispers* “Ok, listen closely. No one knows this, but secretly, Raven is a bus driver and she has a pet raven.

Scott: “He likes butterscotch chips.”
Sora: Pfft, why?! XD
Lil Sis: “Scotch” sounds like “Scott.”
Special Power Fun Fact: “He loves popcorn. And butterscotch chips.”

Alice: “Is that a teacher?”
Sora: No.
Lil Sis: She’s nuts.
Special Power Fun Fact: “There’s gonna be something offensive and something that could be true. She rides a motorcycle. And in the school, she’s always in detention for doing pranks to everyone. For one of them, she released a bunch of Caterpies into the pool…Well, it’s not super offensive.”

Gold: “Why is her name Gold? Her hair isn’t gold.”
Sora: That’s a guy.
Lil Sis: Oh....why is his name Gold? His hair isn’t gold….Oh, his eyes are gold. The reason for his blue hair is an accident when he was painting a mural. His personality is he loves to win.
Special Power Fun Fact: “His house is made of solid gold.”

Alex: “Is that a boy or a girl?”
Sora: (This question so many times XD) Girl.
Lil Sis: She’s always surprised at what happens.
Special Power Fun Fact: “She’s shy around people, but when she’s alone, she’s kind of a daredevil.”

Nall: “He’s a rich person.”
Sora: Why do you say that?
Lil Sis: He has red hair. And he’s related to Gold. And Gold has lots of gold, and they’re friends.
Special Power Fun Fact: “This last one is funny. Nall…is Nall. You don’t have words. He’s just Nall. And he always carries an emergency bucket of hair dye.”

Dangit, Lil Sis. The VN is gonna seem boring now when Sycamore isn’t secretly the villain, Scott doesn’t struggle with a butterscotch chip addiction, Nall doesn’t carry pails of hair dye at all times, and flowers don’t shoot out of Toren’s freaking eyeballs when you bother him. What an ordinary school.
